THE MIDNIGHT FRIEND

Somewhere afar from the east
He pursues a star in the midst
Of the wilds; a land of no man
He is found to be the only one

He has walked for many a year
Nonetheless, he is far from getting near
The soles under his feet get weary
Yet his soul never gets worried

This has been Omni's adventure
Omni!, an alien; a lost stranger
Found in the middle of the jungle
With apes and birds to mingle

It has been an all night long
The nightingales tune up a song
They welcome him in their abode
"Behold! Here comes he like a god"

He sits with bent legs
And leans on an oak tree to rest
He grips a bunch of bananas
Then devour them out of hunger

With an erect body from the ground
The king of the jungle came around;
He narrates, "My Name is Omni,
And this is the journey of my story
It has no beginning or end
I'm just ... the midnight friend"
